Common questions and answers.
In our view, therapy can be a transformative experience for anyone looking to enhance their life. It provides a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, helping you identify what's working and what areas need improvement. With the guidance of a therapist, you can develop strategies to overcome challenges and move forward with confidence.
For therapy to be covered by insurance, it generally needs to be deemed "medically necessary," which means meeting criteria for a mental health diagnosis. Working closely with your therapist, you'll determine if your symptoms require treatment. The good news is that most people seeking therapy will qualify for insurance coverage, making it more accessible than you might think.
The easiest way to schedule is by clicking the "Schedule Session" button at the bottom of this page. You will be directed to a secure portal where you can choose your therapist and make an appointment at your convenience. You can also call/text us at 309.232.8669 or send us an email to admin@pulsecounselingandwellness.com.
We are in network with most major commercial insurance companies, employee's assistance programs, Medicare, and Iowa Medicaid, and will file claims on your behalf. We recommend you check your benefits with your insurance company and inquire whether pre-authorization is required.
We are not in network with Illinois Medicaid. For all other insurance you must check on out-of-network benefits and will be responsible for filing claims directly with your insurance company. We can provide any paperwork you need for any out-of-network insurance companies. Click here to view more information: Investment

Through the portal, you will be able to schedule and cancel appointments, view and pay bills, and securely message your provider.
The first session will be an information-gathering session to determine exactly what your needs are. It is a chance for you to get to know your therapist, and to start the therapeutic relationship. Vulnerability within the counseling relationship is pivotal for success. The more you trust your therapist—the better the outcome.
Therapists will make every effort to return calls in a timely manner but are not capable of responding to emergencies. If you believe you are in a life threatening or emergency situation, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 was enacted on December 27, 2020 and contains many provisions to help protect consumers from surprise bills, including the No Surprises Act under title I and Transparency under title II. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Read More >
